The oval picture is housed in its original elaborate gilt timber frame which compliments the richly painted portrait very well. To the lower left of the picture is a signature 'Augt. Van Den Burgh' and our thought is that the portrait is likely of a Dutch sugar merchant's wife. A beautiful picture, it is likely the family who commissioned the piece were of good social standing to afford such an opulent portrait.Measures - 95cm H x 81cm W
