About this piece

This 10 piece tea and coffee set by Harold Hughan (1893-1987) consists of a coffee pot, a teapot, hot water jug, milk jug and six cups, all of which are glazed with a coppery brown glaze, ovelaid with a green speckled glaze. All pieces are signed by Hughan and some also carry his impressed rebus "HGI" for "Hughan Glen Iris", Glen Iris being the suburb of Melbourne where he lived and potted. The coffee pot stands 205 mm high. The set has been used over the years, and there is some resultant damage. The teapot has the most damage with chips to the spout (as shown in the photo below) and a 65 mm long area to the lip that has been repaired. Six of the other pieces have only very minor chips to their rims.
