Details

A touch of historical elegance, poised to serve as a captivating conversation piece, whilst simultaneously honouring the rich traditions of craftsmanship.

This is a rare late 1800's Swiss Brienz inlaid walnut parlour set, consisting of an occasional table and a pair of chairs.

The set is adorned with intricate alpine motifs depicting shepherds, goats, and floral designs. Notably, the seats feature hinges on the back, possibly concealing secret or musical compartments.

The term "parlour" finds its origins in the French word "parlëure" or "parler," which translates to "conversation." In the 18th and 19th centuries, owning a parlour room was a symbol of elevated social status.

"Brienz", is a Swiss village that is renowned as the "village of carving," boasting a rich heritage in woodworking craftsmanship.

An incredibly unique and rare piece.
