Austrian glass conch shell vase by Bohemian glassmaker Loetz, in a pink ground with Mimosa decor, circa 1890. Shell and snail-form vases were among Loetz’s most popular designs and demonstrate the workshop’s refined craftsmanship. Within this zoomorphic series, documented in varying shapes and colours, the forms sit at the juncture between late 19th-century tendencies and the emerging language of Jugendstil glass.
The underside shows a ground snapped pontil, a detail that assists in authenticating the piece. Very few Loetz pieces were signed; this example aligns with known production, with several similar examples seen on the market. In very fine condition for its age.
