About this piece
A handsome matched pair of Edwardian salon armchairs, elegantly proportioned and freshly upholstered in a soft natural linen.
Each chair has a shaped serpentine crest rail centred with a carved fan motif, above a cartouche-shaped upholstered back panel. Below sits a pierced splat of radiating fluted uprights fanning from a rounded base, a hallmark of Edwardian Sheraton Revival design. The open arms have upholstered pad rests on scroll-terminated shaped supports, above generous serpentine-fronted stuffover seats. They stand on cabriole front legs with original castors, with splayed sabre back legs behind.
Recently reupholstered throughout in a plain natural linen with cream braid trim, giving them a light, contemporary feel that suits modern interiors as readily as period ones. Frames are solid and sound. Some honest wear to the polish on the arm tops, consistent with age and use.
Sold as a pair. Ideal either side of a fireplace, in a bedroom, or as occasional seating in a living or dining room.
