About this piece
Description: An elegant antique English pedestal dating to the 1920s, constructed from maple and featuring an octagonal top above a substantial turned column.
The pedestal has a beautifully proportioned classical form, with moulded detailing beneath the top that flows into a tall, tapered central column. Further turned and ringed detailing leads to the substantial stepped octagonal plinth base, providing both visual balance and stability.
The warm maple timber displays an attractive natural grain and mellow colour that complements the simple architectural lines of the piece. Its tall, slender proportions make it particularly suitable for displaying a vase, sculpture, bust, or indoor plant without taking up much floor space.
