About this piece
A beautiful antique French Louis XV Revival console table, showcasing elegant serpentine lines, finely carved Rococo inspired detailing and cabriole legs terminating in scroll feet. Crafted from solid walnut, this substantial piece has an impressive weight and quality that reflects traditional cabinetmaking of the early 20th century. The shaped frieze is richly carved with scrolling acanthus foliage, while the carved knees continue the decorative detail down each leg. A single full-width drawer provides practical storage, making it equally suited to an entrance hall, living room, bedroom or as a sophisticated writing table. The solid plank top displays a wonderful aged patina developed over decades of use, with marks, scratches, fading and historic imperfections that add warmth and authenticity. The drawer front is original to the piece, while the drawer has been sympathetically repaired during its lifetime, as is often seen with well-loved antique furniture.
