English Georgian (George III, late 1700s) extension dining table comprising two separate D-shaped ends and two extension leaves. The D-ends may be used individually as side tables, paired as a small table, or combined with one or both leaves to form a larger dining setting.
Crafted from solid single wide boards of imported Central American mahogany with notable figuring and colour. The top features a continuous triple reeded edge, and the simple square tapered legs reflect the Hepplewhite and Sheraton manner of the later 1700s. Gate legs are set in from the table edge to avoid impeding seating.
Configuration and seating:
- Ends only (joined): small dining table
- With one leaf: seats approximately 6–8
- With both leaves: seats approximately 8–10
Condition:
- All sections structurally excellent
- The two end surfaces are lighter in tone than the two extension leaves due to differing levels of use
- A professional restorer can refurbish the end sections to bring the colour closer to the leaves
- Height may be raised if required
