About this piece
A remarkable 1950s metal saucer pendant light, generously proportioned at an impressive 700mm diameter, this piece captures the bold optimism and sculptural experimentation of mid-century design. The wide saucer dome features a brushed steel upper surface, giving it a sleek, industrial edge, while the white underside ensures a clean, reflective glow when illuminated. Suspended beneath, a striking yellow perforated metal globe cover softens and diffuses the light, casting subtle patterned shadows and adding a playful atomic-era character. The detailing continues upward with a matching yellow ceiling cap and a contrasting black metal rod and fittings, grounding the design with a strong linear accent. At 700mm DIA x 400mm H, this pendant commands attention — a true statement piece suited to dining spaces, open-plan living areas, or commercial interiors seeking authentic retro impact. (Rod extensions can be purchased to suit varying ceiling heights.)A superb example of 1950s design sensibility — sculptural, optimistic, and unapologetically bold — this mid-century saucer light is both functional illumination and timeless art.
