Artist Essay:
Yuanchi Qiao is a contemporary proponent of the "Neo-Ink" movement, known for her ability to translate traditional Shanshui (landscape) sensibilities into modern, minimalist compositions. This work, Summer Night, demonstrates her signature use of vibrant mineral pigments—specifically the luminous greens and yellows juxtaposed against deep, atmospheric ink washes. The motif of the solitary boat under a diffuse, oversized moon is a recurring theme in her oeuvre, symbolising quietude and the "internal landscape." Her work is steeped in the wisdom of Zen Buddhism. Nature is her inspiration, and the silent world in Starry Nights contains life and endless vitality.
