About the Artist
Leisl Baker is a Toowoomba-based painter who aims to record moments in time as visual snapshots thought her work. A spontaneous, energetic and intuitive artist, Leisl's approach is physical and deliberate; applying thick layers of paint to board and then working to capture the ever-shifting energy, light and atmosphere of a place or scene.
Leisl has been a finalist in several Australian Art Prices including the Hadley's Prize for Landscape, the Paddington Art Price (multiple), the Waverley Art Award, the Pro Hart Outback Art Award and the Clayton Utz Art Prize. Her work is also featured in the 2018 Thames & Hudson publication 'A Painted Landscape' by Amber Creswell Bell.

Inspired by landscape, light and the natural rhythms of country living, her pieces carry a softness and warmth that feel deeply connected to place.
