About this piece
Shakudo is a Japanese copper–gold alloy noted for its darkened blue patina, widely employed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Western jewellers of the period often incorporated shakudo elements into brooches, earrings and bracelets; this pair continues that practice through later conversion.
Each cufflink is fitted with a sprung mechanism that is working well and secures cleanly. The later mechanism is marked 14K for gold purity.
Dimensions: 2.7 cm W x 1.7 cm H (shakudo plaque)
Total weight: 11.35 g (pair)
Markings: ‘14K’ on later cufflink mechanism
