• bazaa_backup_original_description: This exquisite object could be described as a 'paper knife' or a 'page turner' and was crafted in Paris during late 19th century. The piece is crafted from a piece of rock crystal, ivory and 18 karat yellow gold. The rock crystal handle features to the bottom an intaglio monogram which appears to be 'VS' which allows it to be used as a wax seal. The blade of the piece is a solid piece of polished ivory which could be used to turn pages of large antique books or to slice open a large envelope. The piece is signed 'G.Keller' for Gustave Keller of Paris who began operation in 1856 and was trading until 1947. Known for working with both silver and gold, Keller manufactured a range of objects from tea services to flatware and even cosmetic cases. Keller was known to have many royal families as clients including the last Tsar of Russia and Spanish royal family and had a reputation for quality. The gold sections of this piece have a French gold standard hallmark and the engraving 'G.Keller Paris'. The piece could not be in better condition and is virtually in the same condition as it would have been when first owned. Measures - 34.5cm in length
