About this piece
Description: A striking vintage Italian Savonarola-style chair featuring the distinctive X-frame form inspired by Renaissance seating. The timber frame is richly detailed with shaped and carved elements, turned cross rails and a decorative backrest centred by a carved coat of arms.
The chair is fitted with a suspended leather seat that complements the strong architectural form of the frame. The sweeping curved supports and substantial carved feet give the chair an impressive presence, while the heraldic crest adds further European character and visual interest.
With its sculptural silhouette and Italian Renaissance influence, this is a particularly decorative statement chair for an entrance hall, study, library or living space, and would also appeal to collectors of distinctive European furniture.
