English 19th‑century mid‑Victorian card table in the French Louis XV manner, crafted from selected honey‑coloured walnut. The serpentine top carries a curved edge moulding over a double lower applied carved moulding.
The top swivels to reveal an internal storage area within the frieze for cards and game pieces; when laid flat it presents an inset, baize‑lined playing surface framed by a broad walnut border.
A well‑profiled central support column features a flange of carved flowers and foliage, with a carved lower ring collar echoing the top moulding. From the cylindrical base, four shaped and tapered cabriole legs extend to scrolled feet, the knees and feet carved with seed pods and fruit. Complete with original brass and porcelain castor assemblies. Also functions well as a side or hall table when closed.
