This is a most impressive genuine antique French last quarter of the !9th century gilt framed mirror frame with beveled silver plate Over Mantle Mirror made in the Napoleon III era and having both Louis XV and Louis XVI influences. Made in the Paris area circa 1865
At the top is a rear gilded and chased pediment with curved chamfered corners. Below the frame is vertical and rectangular except for the gently curved top rail. The frame is nicely profiled and has an impressive decorative central large stylised palm leaf with opposes ‘S’ shaped scrolls plus trailing floral and foliate embellishments. At the base on either side are opposed foliate scrolls as a reminder of the previous Louis XV style.
Condition: Complete and in overall excellent and desirable original unrestored condition.
