About this piece

English 18th-century George II oval drop-side gateleg dining table, circa 1760, entirely handmade in dense Central American Cuban mahogany. The timber is well-figured with a warm mid honey colour, and the oval top presents as a classic drop-side configuration.

Shaped cabriole legs are detailed with raised shell carvings to the knees and terminate in carved ‘Chippendale’ ball-and-claw feet, reflecting period craftsmanship and decorative language.
