About this piece
Compact 18th-century English Georgian oak drop-front writing bureau on a stand, likely refurbished and finished in Chinoiserie during the late 1800s or early 1900s. The exterior features a red ground with raised gilt decoration depicting a Chinese village scene, carried across both the upper bureau and the lower base. Brass drawer pulls throughout.

- Interior: central cupboard with a drawer beneath; on each side, an upper pair of pigeonholes above two vertically stacked drawers
- Below the fall: two side-by-side drawers and a lower full-width drawer
- Stand: a slightly deeper full-width drawer
- Four corner-positioned turned and shaped club legs with round, flattened pad feet
Condition: Very good commensurate with age and use.
