The silver handles of these good quality silver gilt fish servers are embossed with neo-classical wreaths and the blades have been engraved prior to gilding. Each of the handles is engraved with a very ornate monogram. The fish knife measures 280 mm (11 inches) in length and is 60 mm (2 3/8th inches) wide. The fork is 255 mm (10 inches) long, 65 mm (2.5 inches) wide and stands 25 mm (1 inch) high. I haven't weighed the silver content as there is a steel or iron rod connecting the two halves of each piece as reinforcement. Both pieces are in very good condition with very minimal wear to the gilding. Each of the handles carry stamped marks, but they have been poorly struck. They are probably Belgian. The set would date from around 1890-1900.
