This first period Worcester fluted porcelain tea canister is decorated with a hand painted copy of Caughley's blue and white printed pattern "Temple". This pattern and its details are shown on page 138 of "Worcester Blue and White Porcelain 1751-1790" by Branyan, French and Sandon, where it is cited as a rare pattern. The border on the neck and lid is shown on page 409 of the same book. The piece stands 165 mm (6.5 inches) high and has a diameter of 85 mm (3 3/8ths inches). There are repairs to the lid, neck and foot of this piece. There are two repairs to the rim of the neck, one approx 12 mm (.5 inch) long and the other about 20 mm (.75 inch) long. There is a repair to the part of the lid that goes inside the neck and a repair to the foot that stretches perhaps 25 mm (1 inch) around the rim. It would date from around 1785.
