About this piece
Edwardian period plaque brooch, entirely handmade in platinum and set with 136 old European cut diamonds estimated at G colour and SI clarity, totalling approximately 5.00 carat. The plaque forms a spiralling wreath motif with berry-like accents. The visual language is reminiscent of the Boucheron diamond wave tiara, itself inspired by Hokusai’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa.
Three sides of the plaque are rippled while the top edge is completely straight, suggesting it may originally have been one half of a double belt buckle and later converted to a brooch. To the reverse is a 14 karat white gold hinged pin with a lever‑style safety catch, functioning securely. Marked ‘14K’.
