This is a large Shaker-style dining table, designed by Borge Mogensen for Haarby C.M. Madsen in Denmark in 1958.
This example dates to the 1970s.

This table features a solid oak frame that has been treated with oil to enable its resistance to moisture or stains.
This table measures 90 cm deep × 140 cm wide × 71 cm high.
The wood has a desirable pronounced, patinated grain.
It shows some wear from use. Overall, this table is in very good vintage condition. Please see photos.

Design Story
Born in 1914 in Aalborg, Mogensen trained first as a cabinetmaker before studying furniture design in Copenhagen. That dual background shaped his philosophy throughout his career: furniture should be functional, honest, and built to improve daily life rather than simply impress visually.
During the postwar years, Mogensen helped define the identity of Scandinavian design through pieces that emphasized clean lines, natural materials, and human comfort. Unlike more sculptural modernists, his work often felt grounded and understated, focusing on proportion and usability over dramatic forms.
Among his most famous creations are the Spanish Chair and the J39 Chair, both celebrated for their timeless construction and warm simplicity. His furniture frequently combined solid oak, leather, and woven materials, reflecting a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship.
Mogensen believed good furniture should last generations, both physically and aesthetically. That philosophy helped make his designs enduring staples of Nordic interiors, where comfort and restraint are valued equally.
Today, Børge Mogensen remains one of the most respected names in Danish design history. His furniture continues to feel contemporary decades later, embodying a version of modernism that is calm, functional, and deeply human.
