About this piece
This antique Chinese bench was sourced from Shanxi and is around 150 years old. Made from elm, it has a long plank seat on splayed legs joined by stretchers, and would have been an everyday seat in a rural home or courtyard.
The surface is worn smooth by generations of use. It suits an entry or the end of a bed, works as seating along a dining table, and also makes a great low display shelf.
