Genuine French Renseignements poster depicting a spanner driving a jeep. The text Apprends un bon metier dans L'armee translates into "Learn a good job in the army". Produced at the army print workshop around 1950, it's a post WWII artefact touting the benefits of alternative career paths in the Army post-war. The artist's name listed is Maky, which I haven't been able to find any additional information on at present.
A rather striking poster with its lemon yellow background and blue border, it is inviting and fun. The fonts are playful, yet direct. The image of a shifting spanner (or wrench) driving a Willys Jeep, with the obligatory speed lines, definitely takes you into a the realm of "yeah I could be up for that". The addition of the tricolore on the bumper ads a touch of style.
A genuine article, the poster has some fold lines evident and some small marks. These do not take away from the piece, instead reassuring its authenticity. The frame as a couple of small scrapes.
