Jorn Utzon Chair and Ottoman

Aurora chair, Low. By, Jorn Utzon for, Soro Mobler. The Aurora chair was designed by Jørn Utzon in 1965 in connection with the completion of the Sydney opera house in 1974. The chairs consist of molded steel and steam-formed plywood, which is wave-shaped and upholstered with fabric. This mid-century modern combination makes the chair seem as though it is almost floating and weightless. The chair is upholstered in Holmens 100% pure wool and the set is in almost showroom condition with no obvious flaws or signs of wear. This chair gets its charismatic name ‘aurora’ from the polar light that floats over the sky in Scandinavia. This is known as the northern lights- the aurora borealis, and in the southern hemisphere as aurora australis. When I sit in this chair: My friends seem more friendly, my view is more beautiful, my troubles seem smaller, my thoughts flow more freely and my life is more inspiring. Jørn Utzon
