English Victorian solid oak two-height bookcase/display cabinet in the Renaissance Gothic Revival style, dating to the last quarter of the 19th century. The upper section presents a well-profiled cornice above a pediment with a bold dentil frieze, a motif repeated on the lower frieze. Below, twin glazed doors open to four adjustable, full-width shelves.
The deeper lower cabinet features a full-width raised linenfold-carved frieze drawer over double recessed blind-panelled doors, themselves embellished with raised linenfold carving. A full-width interior shelf provides additional storage. Linenfold-carved details also articulate the full-height engaged pilasters to both upper and lower sections. The whole is supported on a projecting plinth base.
