An impressive early Victorian credenza with Wedgwood jasperware plaques depicting neoclassical figures framed with ormolu mounts. With internal solid mahogany construction, this piece is veneered mostly in the very rare amboyna wood with marquetry of mahogany, ebonised mahogany, satinwood, and ivory. Fluted columns flank the central mirrored alcove which is lined by a turned, wooden gallery. The Wedgwood plaques are identified by the impressed marks on the underside that indicate they were produced before 1860. The overall design of this piece takes inspiration from a handful of influences that were present during this period most notably neoclassicism as can be seen not only in the Wedgwood panels but the Corinthian columns and Greek key inlay.
