This is an excellent quality example of a ‘high end’ genuine antique English 19th century mid Victorian period Card Table which also makes a lovely side table or hall table. and is superbly made by craftsmen in the sought after French Louis XV manner from selected popular honey coloured Walnut.
The serpentine shaped top has a curved edge molding plus a double feature lower applied carved molding. When the top swivels it reveals an internal storage ares for cards and game pieces within the frieze section and when laid flat reveals the inset baize lined inset playing surface with a broard Walnut border.
The central support column is well profiled and has flange of boldly carved flowers and foliage. There is a carved lower ring collar which compliments the top front edge molding. From the cylindrical base flow four shaped and tapered cabriole legs with boldy carved embellished knees and scrolled feet both featuring carved seed pods and fruit. Complete with original brass and porcelain castor assemblies. beneath the feet.
