This is an excellent example and very good quality genuine antique English 19th century Victorian period circa 1880 Credenza / Side Cabinet / Display Cabinet in the French Napoleon III manner.
The cabinet has three sections being a curved and glazed display section at either end with velvet lined shelves and a central flat ‘blind’ recessed panel door concealing a shelved storage area.
The cabinet is Ebonised and features multiple horizontal decorative and finely cast applied gilt brass moldings. The cabinet is further embellished with multiple line inlays and Amboyna cross bandings. The central door has a ‘Serves’ hand painted oval plaque surrounded with decorative folate gilt brass moldings. There are three smaller gilt framed painted porcelain plaques on the frieze section centred above each door and on the vertical dividers between the cabinet sections which also feature bold well cast upper and lower gilt mounts.
All supported on a shaped plynth base with short turned legs beneath.
Condition: Excellent original commensurate with age and use.
