Early to mid-Victorian English circular centre or dining table, circa 1845–1855, on a central column with a tripod base. The circular top is finished in selected book-matched imported Brazilian rosewood with a well-figured, deep honey-coloured surface. A shaped apron with a lower raised moulding supports the top.
The central support column is solid rosewood, boldly carved with leaf embellishments and scrolls in the French Louis manner. From the cylindrical base, three carved, scrolled legs radiate in tripod formation, terminating in upward scrolled toes with the original all-brass castor assemblies beneath.
The top is fixed (non-tilt) but unscrews from the base for ease of removal and transport. Height can be raised if required.
