Anglo-Indian 19th-century Victorian campaign combination piece of compact proportions, formed in three sections: a removable upper glazed bookcase/display cabinet over a chest of drawers constructed in two parts for transport. Typical campaign features include recessed, flush-mounted brass drawer pulls and sectional construction.
The upper bookcase/display cabinet has a carved cornice and pediment, with carving continued along the sides. A pair of carved door frames enclose glazed panels arched at the top, with brass mouldings around the glass. Inside, a full-width shelf includes a raised front edge designed to prevent books or objects from sliding into the glazing during movement.
The lower chest presents a pair of side-by-side top drawers above three full-width drawers. Each drawer is fitted with flush brass campaign pulls set centrally within raised, sunburst-carved panels. Brass locks and brass keyhole escutcheons are present to all drawers. The protruding top and platform base carry profusely carved perimeter mouldings, and the piece stands on four short, turned and tapered feet.
Condition: Excellent, commensurate with age and use.
