Description
This vibrant bowl is a testament to the innovative spirit of Jiří Šuhájek, one of the most prolific and internationally recognized figures in Czech contemporary glass. Produced for the Bohemia Selection range, the piece features a deep cobalt blue rim that transitions into a clear, solid base. With its original presentation box and manufacturer's label.

Designer Profile: Jiří Šuhájek and the Bohemian Tradition
Jiří Šuhájek is a master of glass who bridged the gap between the traditional craftsmanship of the Eastern Bloc and the experimental studio glass movement of the West. After studying under Professor Stanislav Libenský at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, he attended the Royal College of Art in London, an experience that heavily influenced his bold, sculptural style.
Throughout his career at Crystalex and Bohemia Glassworks, Šuhájek was known for his ability to push the physical limits of hot-shaped glass. His work is celebrated for its vitality and color, often appearing more like "glass paintings" than functional vessels. His relationship with Bohemia Selection allowed his sophisticated designs to reach a global audience, cementing his legacy as a pioneer of late 20th-century Czech design.
