Catalogue Note:
Göran Wärff, a seminal figure in 20th-century Scandinavian glass, joined the Kosta Boda works in 1964. Throughout his career, Wärff remained deeply fascinated by the interplay of light and optical transparency, often describing his work as "receptacles for light."
This particular bowl is a prime example of Wärff's exploration of "Optical Art" through the medium of lead crystal. The signature serial number 56195 corresponds to his mid-to-late period designs for Kosta, where the emphasis was placed on the structural weight of the glass and the precision of the lapidary work. By utilizing deep, rhythmic faceting, the artist transforms a functional vessel into a kinetic sculpture that refracts its environment, a hallmark of the Swedish Modernist aesthetic.

Overall very good condition. Commensurate with age, there is light shelf-wear to the polished underside. The crystal retains excellent clarity and brilliance with no visible chips or fractures to the faceted edges.
