About this piece
Erik Höglund changed what Swedish glass could look like. A sculptor who taught himself to blow glass, he led the design at Boda from the early fifties and made a virtue of everything refined glass usually hid, thick walls, trapped bubbles, rough folk character, and the faces he pressed into the surface like something far older than the factory.
This vase still wears its original Boda label and carries one of those faces, the motif most associated with Höglund's years there. The label fixes the house and the face is his signature idea. Boda became Kosta Boda only later, so the label places this in the earlier Boda era, which is exactly where you want it.
