Giuseppe Bessi was born in 1857. He was an Italian sculptor, and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence.
In 1879, he founded his own workshop in Volterra, and mainly focused on busts and statues of alabaster, marble, and onyx marble. Bessi is considered one of the most important representatives of the Italian Salon sculpture. Incised signature verso
