  This is one of the nicest and best quality Chest of Drawers that I have had the pleasure of offering for sale in the past five decades. it is a truely superior quality example of a genuine antique English Georgian / Regency Chest of drawers with exceptional features.

  The chest is crafted to a very high standard and includes selected solid Mahogany boards of excellent colour and figuring and matched timber for the drawer fronts. The rectangular top is beautifully figured and has a vertical edge cross banding. Around the perimeter it has an Ebony line inlay. The rectangular case has two top side by side drawers with three full width graduated drawers beneath. All drawers have an Ebony cock bead perimeter molding original locks and key hole escutcheons. The lovely brass drawer pull knobs and their backing plates are later however top quality authentically detailed castings. Regretfully brass hardware went out of fashion during the Victorian period when turned timber knobs were preferred so many chests were ‘modernised’ at the time by replacing the original brass hardware with timber knobs. This chest has been beautifully restored and the original style of brass drawer pull knobs re instated.

  On each front corner is a semi engaged full height column which is profusely embellished with carved folate sections while other sections are spiraled and also have ring turnings. The chest stands on a platform base cross banded so as to match the top and beneath the columns are a continuation of the columns in the form of tapered and multiple ring turned legs.

  Condition: This superb Chest of Drawers is presented to the highest standards in professionally conserved condition.
