Details
W. H. Grindley was an English pottery company that made earthenware and ironstone tableware, including flow blue.
The company was founded in 1880 by William Harry Grindley, JP (b. 1859) of Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.
The company was founded at the Newfield Pottery by Grindley and Alfred Meakin (connected to J. & G. Meakin company), but the partnership ended in 1884 and Grindley continued alone.
This coffee set is made in the ‘Azure Leaf’ Pattern which is a lovely dove blue glaze with cream coloured interiors and handles. This pattern was made in the 1950s.
The set features a lidded coffee pot and 6 espresso cups and saucers. The coffee pot is 19cm tall. The cups are 4.5cm tall and 6.5cm in diameter, and the saucers are 11cm in diameter.
The coffee pot shows no chips or cracks but does show a fair bit of crazing (pictured).
Some of the saucers show some crazing.
The espresso cups are of varying condition. Some are in excellent condition, some have some crazing and staining (as pictured) and one has a repair to the handle.
