This Royal Worcester cabinet plate is decorated to the centre with a wonderful hand painted floral spray by William Hale (?-1930). This spray is surrounded by extensive raised gilding on a pale yellow ground to the central well, and more on a mid-green ground to the rim. Hale started at Royal Worcester in 1874 and became one of its principal artists. He was regarded as a very fine flower painter, who could also turn his hand to detailed gilding and groundlaying. The diameter of this plate is 266 mm (10.5 inches) and it stands 19 mm (.75 inch) high. It is in excellent condition and carries the date mark for 1929.
