This is a very good and practical Coffee Table. As coffee tables did not exist pre the earlier 1900s so this is a slightly later interpretation of one had they existed.
It is of rectangular form and crafted from solid.
The top has an inset marble slab set into a nicely profiled timber frame. The apron or frieze section is profusely carved embellished in the typical Rococo manner. the bottom edge of the apron is shaped and flows into corner positioned cabriole legs with foliate carved knees and scrolled feet. The legs are connected by two lower ‘U’ shaped stretchers which meet at a carved central finial.
Condition: Excellent for age and use and is structurally sound. The inset Onyx slab has had an old repair which is hardly noticeable however it may easily be replaced with a lovely piece of marble of colour to taste.
