Details
This is a hard to find superior quality Writing Table photographed just how it came to us requiring some relatively minor professional conservation and a good clean up or general refurbishment. For furniture over 200 years old this is not unusual and it will come up a treat.
It is a genuine antique English late Regency / George IV ( circa 1820 ) rectangular Writing Table crafted from prestigious imported Brazilian Rosewood. The top has an original inset tooled leather writing surface and a decorative ‘two tone’ perimeter inlay all the way around.
The frieze section has a wide flush mounted draw with a cavetto curved top molding and a lower “beaded’ molding that carries around all four sides of the frieze.
The whole is supported by twin turned columns at either end which feature ring turnings plus lower carved Tulips and rise from rectangular bases which curve and taper into lovely brass toe caps with their original castor assemblies beneath. Both pairs of end columns are connected and braced by a nicely turned and tapered stretcher which also connects both pairs at the same end with a carved stylised flower with nicely carved petals.
Condition: Structurally sound and usable with age related minor deficiencies. However to look its best it requires some relatively minor and straight forward professional detailing and a general refurbishment. The leather can be replaced in a colour of your choice ( lightly antiqued if required ) and feature gold and or blind tooling.
Size: Width 100cm x Depth 60cm x Height 77cm.
Price: May be purchased ‘as is’ for $1,285 or purchased professionally refurbished ie woodwork and polish professionally restored for $2,695 plus if required leather the colour of your choice with gold tooling all at cost price to us.
