This is a charming and most decorative compact sized genuine antique English Georgian !8th century ( 1700s ) Oak drop front Bureau on a Stand which probably during the late 1800s or earlier 1900s has been refurbished and finished in Chinoiserie with a red ground and raised gilt decorative features of a Chinese village scene.
Internally the bureau has a central cupboard with a drawer beneath. and on either side an upper pair of pigeon holes with a pair of vertically stacked drawers beneath.
The drop front when opened rests on a pair of pull out loafers. Below the drop front are a pair of side by side drawers and a lower full width drawer. The bureau sits on a lower stand which has its own slightly deeper full width drawer and is supported by four corner positioned turned and shaped club legs with round and flattened pad feet.
All drawers are complimented by brass drawer pulls and both the top bureau and the lower base are profusely embellished with the same Chinoiserie finish.
Condition: Very good commensurate with age and use.
