Handcrafted in Melbourne using Australian porcelain, iridescent red hues, and locally sourced materials, this lamp is both art and functional design. Created by Good Design Award-winning artist Sarah Tracton, each lamp is meticulously made through a multi-stage process that celebrates the natural beauty and unique nuances of porcelain.
Sarah begins by pouring porcelain slip onto a plaster slab to form architectural clay sheets. These are then carefully shaped, rolled, hand-sanded, glazed, and dried slowly before being fired twice at 1280°C. The result is a seamless fusion of fine art and functional elegance.
This lamp emits stunning luminosity and translucency, infused with iridescent red tones that radiate an otherworldly glow when lit. Switched off, it presents a sleek, minimalist white design. Switched on it transforms into a radiant light sculpture, revealing its intricate red layers, an nuance that can only be created by the human hand.
Made in Melbourne with a zero-waste process, this lamp is handcrafted from 100% Australian porcelain. Its LED strips, electrical components, and hardware are all sourced locally to minimise environmental impact, ensuring a responsible and sustainable creation.
