Details
Substantial sculptural glass centrepiece of sweeping horn form, raised on a circular pedestal foot. Executed in translucent grey-blue/green glass, the elongated asymmetrical body curves upward from the base, tapering elegantly toward the open mouth. The form exemplifies A. D. Copier’s post-war approach to organic modernism, combining clarity of line with controlled fluidity.

Notes
The Hoorn des Overvloeds is one of A. D. Copier’s most recognisable sculptural designs from the immediate post-war period, produced at Glasfabriek Leerdam between approximately 1947 and 1952. Conceived as a centrepiece or display object rather than utility glass, it reflects Copier’s mastery of form, balance and proportion. Examples are held in museum collections and are regarded as icons of Dutch modernist glass.
