About this piece
Vintage French Louis XV style bergère settee with a gilt wood frame, shaped cane back and sides, and newly reupholstered seat cushions in a black and ivory houndstooth jacquard. The frame features a softly serpentine back, scrolling arms, carved floral details and cabriole legs, all characteristic of the Louis XV style. The cane work wraps around the back and sides, giving the settee a light and elegant profile. Recently reupholstered in a woven houndstooth jacquard with black piping, bringing a sharper contemporary contrast to the traditional French form. Vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including rubbing and losses to the gilt finish. Cane remains intact with age-related variation throughout. Please refer to photographs. A matching pair of Louis XV style cane armchairs is also available separately, upholstered in the same houndstooth jacquard. Together they form a coordinated three piece suite.
