Antique Traite Provençal 18th Century Sideboard Buffet French, circa 18th century
The Traite Provençal is a piece with a story that predates almost everything else in a room. Made in the Provence region of France, this style of buffet was a staple of the French farmhouse interior, built by local craftsmen from solid walnut using joinery techniques that have barely changed across three centuries. The carved panel doors, the quiet patina of the timber, and the weight of the piece all speak to that tradition.
This example retains its original antique keys and inner shelf, purchased in France in July 1990. Pieces like this are increasingly difficult to source with their original hardware intact. Three doors open to reveal useful internal storage, and the low profile makes it equally at home as a dining room sideboard, a hallway piece, or beneath a window in a living space.
In good condition with the honest patina you would expect from a piece of this age.
