Produced after the discovery of the iconic head found in the Temple of the Inscriptions at Palenque, Mexico in 1952 by Mexican archaeologist Alberto Ruz Lhuillier. The silver-gilt face contrasts beautifully with the verdigris-toned hair, creating a dynamic and aged patina that enhances its presence.
Mounted on a stepped wooden mid-century modern pedestal, this piece is a bold fusion of ancient inspiration and mid-century artistry, crafted by Nicromex in Mexico during the late 1950s to Early 1960s. The design echoes the grandeur of Mayan civilization while embodying the sleek, expressive style of modernist sculpture.
