This exceptional 1930s Art Deco tambour room divider is attributed to Jomain Baumann and produced by the French manufacturer S.N.S.A..
Crafted from flexible, curved vertical slats of pitch pine, the design showcases the ingenuity of early modernist French craftsmanship. The slender timber slats are internally threaded with fine wires, allowing the screen to move fluidly — it can be rolled, folded, or shaped into elegant, sweeping curves depending on the space.
More than a functional room divider, this piece is sculptural in presence. Its rhythmic timber lines and architectural form reflect the sophistication of 1930s Art Deco design, where innovation met artistry. A rare and striking statement for both contemporary and period interiors.
Frame in great condition except one spot where a small portion of the timber strip is missing.
