About this piece

English poudreuse vanity table, often referred to as a Beau Brummell chest, from the late 18th–early 19th century. These men’s dressing tables were used to store powders, wigs, and perfumes, and became associated with the Georgian dandy Beau Brummell, who claimed he spent five hours getting dressed and polished his boots with champagne.

Crafted in rich flame mahogany veneer with contrasting dark and light timber banding. The interior is arranged with several mahogany compartments, with a fold-up sliding mirror occupying the centre.
