About this piece

Early 1800s English Georgian Regency period dining or centre table, crafted in imported Brazilian rosewood. Originally very dark, the timber has mellowed to a light honey tone that highlights the figured grain.

The circular top has a shallow apron and features a tilt-top mechanism; the top is also removable. It is supported by a squared, upward-tapered column finished with a boldly carved tulip collar at the base. The flat quadruped base presents concave curved sides and terminates in carved lion paw feet with reeded French S-shaped scrolls, set on the original all-brass castor assemblies.

Condition: Excellent, commensurate with age and use.
