About this piece
Elaborate carving extends across the structure, including leafy tendrils, floral motifs and bold geometric patterns. Arched elements are rendered in the 17th-century architectural manner. The top panel presents a detailed Hindu iconographic scene: Lord Indra, god of climate and weather, encircled by sun rays, riding in a wheeled chariot drawn by a seven-headed horse—described in Hindu mythology as the first of all horses.
